A review of the hottest trends in eyewear for 2015.
As leaves begin to change colors and the smell of pumpkin spiced lattes fill the air, fashionistas, editors, models, bloggers, and celebrities alike are descending upon New York City in droves. The designer-clad crowds making their way to the runway tents in sunglasses and stilletos can only mean one thing – New York Fashion Week has officially begun!
Here at Zenni, we can’t wait to see what trends take the runways by storm. In anticipation of our favorite designers’ Spring/Summer 2016 collections, let’s review the hottest looks in eyewear for Fall 2015.
SHAPES
CIRCULAR – ROUND UP
From the runways of Paris to the Sahara tent at Coachella, rounded frames are everywhere in 2015. A modern take on the 1960s wire-rimmed teashades, à la John Lennon, these vintage-inspired circular frames evoke a sense of nostalgic whimsy. Trendsetters like Beyoncé, Jamie King, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Candice Swanepoel, all embrace the rocker look with round shades. Compliment your favorite circular frames with a pair of high-rise flared denim jeans, also set to be a fall fashion fave.

SQUARE – HIP TO BE SQUARE
A perennial fashion favorite, oversized square shapes are set to dominate the fashion runways this fall. Glamorous, mysterious and chic – square frames are synonymous with Jackie O’s legendary 70s style. Adorned by the likes of gorgeous supermodels, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Chrissy Teigen, and Miranda Kerr, it’s clear the fashion crowd loves the square look on and off the runway.

For a sleek look, the darker the better, try jet black square frames with dark tinted lenses. For a softer look, try a pair of warm brown tortoiseshell square frames with a gradient lens.

TRANSLUCENT
Crystal clear frames create a clean, modern look with a focus on the face. Combining a colorful mirrored lens lens with a clear acetate frame, like Olivia Palermo, can instantly add some stand-out style. Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Dornan opt for keeping it simple.

BLACK
Sleek and chic, black is anything but basic. Model of the moment, Kendall Jenner is a fan of black on black shades in a variety of styles.

DETAILS
As Charles Eames once said, “The details are not the details. They make the design.” From preppy tortoiseshell to bold, mirrored styles in a myriad of colors, it’s all in the details this fall.
MIRRORED LENSES – RICH HUES AND JEWEL TONES
This year’s hottest trend, colored mirrored lenses are here to stay well into 2016. While silver and gold finishes are always a safe bet – rich hues and jewel toned finishes really stand out this season. Add an eye-catching sense of playfulness to any outfit with a purple, green, or blue mirrored lens finish.

WOOD FRAMES – AU NATURAL
Incorporate a natural element to your look with wood-inspired frames for fall. A popular trend with stylish folks who love the great outdoors, wood frames are an easy way to add texture to any ensemble.

TORTOISESHELL – PREP SCHOOL STYLE
Nothing says back to school – or reality – like the classic, refined, and timeless look of tortoiseshell. Take inspiration from a Wes Anderson flick for preppy style with a quirky twist. Or channel your inner Ernest Hemingway and go for a bookish look. Tortoiseshell frames are a subtle and easy way to show off your studious style.
