A sneak peak at the hottest trends in eyewear for 2016.
In case your Instagram feed hasn’t been bombarded with an endless parade of models wearing fabulous outfits – September is officially Fashion Month. Yes, month! New York Fashion Week has just wrapped up, but the non-stop whirlwind of designer runway shows, front row fashionistas, and celebrity filled after-parties isn’t ending anytime soon. Next stop on this full-speed fashion train: London. Then it’s onto Milan and finally, the grande dame of haute couture, Paris. If you haven’t gotten a chance to pick up your September issue of Vogue, that’s okay, we’ve got you covered! Let’s take a look at the colors and trends that are right off the runway and sure to be a hit this coming season.
Like a scene from a dreamy Degas painting, spring’s color palette is all about soft, pale, dusty hues. In keeping with this theme, rose quartz is officially the Pantone Color Institute’s color choice for Spring 2016. Not surprisingly, this pretty pink shade features heavily in runway collections, on celebrity trendsetters, and is set to make a huge impact next year.
NATURAL HUES: Calming Colors.
Inspired by elements of nature and Scandinavian design, natural hues in tones of pale blue, dusty grey, and hazy taupe evoke a clean minimalist look and soothing feel. These muted, neutral colors evoke simplicity and comfort – something we definitely need more of. Gigi Hadid, Eva Mendes, and Scarlett Johansson go for a natural look.

TRY: A matte blue frame accented with translucent peach arms.
PRETTY IN PASTEL: Soft and Ethereal.
As seen on the Carolina Herrera Spring 2016 runway, dusty shades of pink, baby blue, and lavender create a soft and ethereal look this spring. This feminine and composed color palette embodies a sense of freedom and youth – perfect for the free-spirited bohemian girl. It’s no wonder Hollywood’s leading ladies are catching on to this color craze. Taylor Swift, Gwen Stefani, and Kate Hudson love their pastels.

FOR MEN
Inspired by global travelers and architectural elements, classic styles are improved with fresh details such as exposed hardware and dual-tone acetate frames.
ROUND LENS AVIATORS: Fashion Forward and Futuristic.
Aviators are transformed this season with round lenses, metal bridges, and translucent plastic frames. This retro-futuristic style – think Mad Max meets James Dean – is perfect for the fashion forward crowd. Off the runways at Fashion Week, round lens aviators stole the show with bloggers and celebrities displaying their street style. Orlando Bloom, Aaron Paul, and Robert Pattinson embrace their round lens aviators.

BROWLINES: Retro and Modern.
Traditional browline frames are updated with metal details, vibrant colors, textures, and architectural elements for spring. While the classic, retro 1950s shape of browlines remain the same, studded details and colored lenses add a modern touch to a familiar look. We’re particularly fond of blue browlines – embellished with a studded metal detail in the temple. NBA player Chris Paul, James Franco, and Ryan Gosling wear their retro browlines with confidence and style.

Square: Timeless and Sporty.
Square glasses are a must-have item for every man. It’s no surprise this timeless style has been popular with everyone from past presidents to stylish hipsters. This season, dual-tone acetate frames and keyhole accents add a sporty yet sophisticated twist to the beloved, classic square shape. Andy Samberg, Bradley Cooper, and director Cary Fukunaga are fans of this look.

CAT-EYE: The Cat’s Meow.
Impossibly glamorous and always chic, cat-eye frames are exaggerated and improved this season with modern touches, embellishments, and crisp color choices to bring out the wild side. Keyhole and partial-rim frames offer a lively conversation and make for a sensational statement piece. A fashion favorite, oversized cat-eye shades never go out of style. Ciara, Chrissy Teigen, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley love their stylish shades.

PINK CAT-EYE: Tickled Pink.
See the world through rose-colored glasses? We do, too! Various shades of pink, like the aforementioned rose quartz, will be everywhere next year. What better way to accessorize an outfit than with some festive pink shades? We are in love with these partial-rim frames with pink browline detailing. They’re sure to stand out at any music festival – after all, Coachella 2016 isn’t that far off. Gwen Stefani, Alexa Chung, and Bella Thorne all look pretty in pink.

CLEAR: Opaque Acetate.
These aren’t your high school chemistry lab glasses. Opaque acetate frames, in a variety of hues, shapes, and transparencies, continue to be a popular trend for 2016. Streamlined, clean, and modern – clear frames are slightly updated this season with soft muted colors to add a feminine appeal. Favored amongst the A-list celebrity set, Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow showcase their street style in clear frames. For a high-fashion trendsetting look, add a tinted or mirrored lens finish like ‘It Girl’ model, Gigi Hadid.

TRY: A semi-translucent frame in a dusty rose or pale yellow to polish off your spring wardrobe.
CIRCULAR: Curves Ahead.
As showcased in the Wes Gordon Spring 2016 runway collection, circular glasses inspire a Winona Ryder-esque ’90s aesthetic. Can anyone say, Reality Bites? Round shades combined with bold patterns, animal prints, and fresh colors achieve a sense of edgy sophistication. Black and white combinations, marble frames, and new interpretations of classic tortoiseshell are some of the hottest patterns. We love this look on Dita Von Teese, Olivia Palermo, and Kendall Jenner.
