It always gives us a warm and fuzzy feeling when we hear those feel-good stories about companies giving back. So of course when we caught wind of Safilo Group’s continued support of the Special Olympics, we just had to share it with you.
Since 2003, Safilo Group has joined the cause and supplied all sorts of frames to the Special Olympics-Lion Clubs International Opening Eyes—the largest program in the world dedicated to providing vision care for people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympic athletes are able to benefit from vision screenings and receive prescription eyeglasses to correct any vision impairments as well as sunglasses to protect their eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Contact sport athletes also got in on the fun and walked away with protective eyewear to keep their peepers out of harm’s way during the competition.
For this year’s Special Olympic World Summer Games, held in Athens, Safilo Group donated more than 80,000 specs and sunnies. Personnel joined in on the events as volunteers, and as you can see from the pics below, it looks like the kiddos loved every moment of it.
